Papilledema is swelling of the optic nerve head caused by raised pressure inside the skull. If the raised pressure is not controlled in time, it can lead to permanent optic atrophy and vision loss. Access to specialized neuro-ophthalmology follow-up for the resulting nerve damage can be limited within Pakistan. Optic Atrophy Treatment Center works with Pakistani patients exploring stem cell therapy for the optic nerve damage that remains once the underlying pressure problem has been treated.
Once papilledema has caused lasting optic atrophy, treating the underlying cause of raised intracranial pressure does not reverse the nerve damage that has already occurred. Patients often look abroad to explore additional options for the vision that remains.

Stem cell therapy is studied for its potential to help support optic nerve tissue affected by papilledema-related atrophy. It is considered once the underlying raised-pressure condition has been diagnosed and is being medically managed.
Suitability depends on the stage and cause of the condition. Before travelling, our team reviews:

Excellent customer service and straight away got some improvement as my eye points stop hurting when i press them so and still on the healing process. Very experienced doctor and lovely people. Happy with it.

I came from overseas specifically for treatment. The staff not only assisted me with transport but also made the whole experience hassle-free. The medical service was of the highest standard and I was very secure in Delhi.
“No, the underlying cause must first be diagnosed and under active management locally. This option is for the resulting optic nerve damage.”
“No, our evaluation and treatment address the optic nerve/vision component only.”
“At present, no — India’s visa suspension for Pakistani nationals is still in effect. A remote report review lets you prepare in advance.”
